My name is Lily-Sue, but my mummy calls me Munchkin (or 'Munch' for short!) I am 8 years old, and this is where my mummy will help me write all about all the fun things we do together. I hope you enjoy reading about the adventures of my mummy and me, Munchkin, with the occasional appearance from the siblings - Beastie and Plumlet.

Tips for choosing your Bathroom Furniture

Our quest for a new bathroom!
One thing we have promised ourselves this year as a family is that we will make some big changes to our bathroom. When we moved in here, one of the things we knew we would want to change in the near future would be this room, as instead of a traditional bathroom, we have a wet room. With three young children, this has its pros and cons. The kids love the fact that they can play around in the shower with the added space due to no cubicle and that they don't have to worry about the distance they allow the water to spread! However, even with the addition of non-slip mats, it can get dangerous and kind of like trying to retrieve a goldfish from its tank with your bare hands.
All this aside, I miss the luxury of relaxing in a bath at the end of a long day. This is something I definitely took for granted before we moved in here, and I want it back!
So some changes will definitely be made, and we are starting to consider the other factors we will need to think about when planning our little transformation!
5 Tips To Selecting Bathroom Furniture
It goes without saying that the bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the house. A bathroom must be relaxing and also serve as a wonderful place for you to quiet your mind and let go of your stress. Therefore, it is imperative that the bathroom is updated to suit your needs and preferences. When updating your bathroom, you will have to focus on choosing bathroom furniture such as vanities, mirrors, and cabinets. If you want to make your bathroom a functional retreat, you should follow the tips we have mentioned below;

Tip 1: Deciding on the bathroom furniture

So, what bathroom furniture are you in dire need of? Are you looking to upgrade your vanities and mirrors? Or, do you want to install new cabinets for extra storage space? When deciding on the bathroom furniture, you will need to note the dimensions of your bathroom. It wouldn't make sense for you to purchase a bathroom furniture that doesn't fit in your bathroom, would it?

Tip 2: Know your budget

Before you begin your search for bathroom furniture, you need to first work out a realistic budget for the furniture. Doing so will prevent you from overspending. Of course, there may come times when the furniture you prefer are priced exorbitantly and are thus, over budget. During such times, you can either wait for clearance sales or opt for cheaper, similar-looking alternatives.

Tip 3: Design and style

When focusing on bathroom furniture, you should particularly focus on two important factors; style and practicality. And, when choosing the furniture, it is necessary to identify what atmosphere and look you want in your bathroom. Do you want your bathroom to look luxurious? Or, do you want custom-made furniture to better suit the needs and requirements of your family? Do you like traditional furniture pieces or would you rather place chic and contemporary furniture in your bathroom?

Tip 4: Choosing your vanity

Before choosing your vanity, you need to first know what you want in a vanity. You will need to identify what your vanity unit will be used most often for. Will it be used by your kids? If so, you should get a vanity that is durable beyond belief and easy to clean. You should also pay attention to the height of the vanity and ensure that it isn't too low or too high for you. The vanity you end up choosing must also be able to accentuate the other accessories and furniture in the bathroom.

Tip 5: Know your storage needs

Before shopping for a new cabinet, you need to first take an inventory of all the products in the current bathroom. Then, you should pick a cabinet or a vanity that can not only accommodate the current products, but also have extra storage space available for future needs. You will be able to shop better after knowing your storage needs.

These are all tips that we will most definitely be keeping in mind when we start to change our wet room into a proper bathroom. It will absolutely happen this year. A promise is a promise!
