Hello!

My name is Lily-Sue, but my mummy calls me Munchkin (or 'Munch' for short!) I am 8 years old, and this is where my mummy will help me write all about all the fun things we do together. I hope you enjoy reading about the adventures of my mummy and me, Munchkin, with the occasional appearance from the siblings - Beastie and Plumlet.

Foreign holidays as a family ... Eeekkk!

Perfect plan or asking for trouble ...?!

Oh, how life changes ...!

The Man and I have been together for over 8 years now. For the first 4 years of our relationship, we lived with only each other to think or worry about, and with very few commitments, we were free to do pretty much whatever we wanted. Sadly, there are one or two things I do wish we had done in that 4 years that we put off for too long and therefore never ended up doing.

One of those things was enjoying a foreign holiday together!

It was something that we talked about on a number of occasions, but we allowed insignificant obstacles to get in the way and never ever booked those tickets! There are so many places I'd love to go, so many countries I'd love to see, but I am actually a very inexperienced traveller! Don't get me wrong, I have been lucky enough to visit a few very beautiful places outside of the UK, but compared to many, I have seen very little.

Now, all these years later, there is nothing stopping us from planning a holiday. Not even a foreign break. However, we would have completely different priorities now compared to those we had back in 2005! Instead of breathtaking views, we'll be thinking about baby-friendly resorts, and instead of space for a mini-bar, we look at space for a cot. Yes, any hope of a holiday for us now will be a family holiday, and we will have to consider so many different factors!

There are a number of destinations on our 'to-do' list, a list which seems to have been built around the one dream holiday which we plan to take in a few years time - A Disney World, Florida holiday. Wherever we go, we will primarily be looking at low cost family holidays, and deals that will benefit us as a family of 2 adults and (soon to be) 3 children! Things we will need to keep in mind, apart from overall cost, are:

Family friendly Resorts
Spacious accommodation with appropriate facilities
Age appropriate entertainment
Security
Distance of chosen resort from attractions/amenities

This is to name just a few!

It is common knowledge that one of the best ways to get a cracking deal on your foreign break is to go for a last minute deal, of which there are always some great offers available. Whilst this may not always be convenient when you have a family, it can be a perfect option to go for if you know exactly when you wish to travel, for how long for and the budget you would like to stick to. If you are not too fussy about destination, then this would definitely be a great avenue to explore. Although, using a holiday price comparison site would search so many different agents and providers, there is sure to be something to suit everybody!

Whether you are looking for a sunny break , or one on the ski slopes ... City breaks or relaxing cruises, taking advantage of the free service offered by the likes of Icelolly.com promises to take the stress out of the searching, finding and booking process for you. And I don't know about you, but if I am booking a holiday, I like the the planning to be as smooth as the holiday itself. After all, stress is for the nursery runs ... right?!

LolliBopping fun! Our day at the Big Bash for Little People!

Last weekend, mummy and I went to London. I had been excited about this day since 17th August 2012, as that was the last time we visited the LolliBop Festival - the Big Bash for Little People! Around came Sunday, 18th August, 2013, and we were off there again! This year, the festival was calling a new venue 'home' for the weekend. Previous years, London's Regents Park has been the location for the event. However, for 2013, the festival came to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London.

As many of you know, mummy and I have been lucky enough to visit the LolliBop Festival every year so far. The event first opened its gates to visitors on Friday, 5th August, 2011, and played host to some of the most popular children's acts for the whole weekend. It returned again in August 2012, and we were on our way for the third time for what promised to be the biggest and best yet!

I can't tell you who I was most excited to see this year. The line-up was pretty amazing! Some acts were returning for their second or third LolliBop appearance, whilst others were making their debut! I had a whole list of people and characters that I was really looking forward to seeing ...!

And there really was so much to see! The loveable WotWots were wandering around, creating queues of excited children, all wanting a photograph taken with the TV stars, as were Postman Pat & Jess, and in their own little enclosure, we were treated to the Cloudbabies - Baba Pink and Baba Blue!

I think the highlight of my day happened on the main stage at lunchtime. We made our way over to the stage area a while before the action was scheduled to begin, and we weren't the only ones either! Hundreds of excited families were already gathering to take their places for Justin Fletcher's big appearance  and I couldn't wait! We were treated to a special dose of fun offered by the CBeebies team, consisting of Andy Day, Sid Sloane and Alex Winters. They were their usual funny selves, and it was great fun watching Sid falling victim to the 'Gunge Tank' which resulted in him being covered from head to toe in bright green slime!

After our fun with Justin, singing and dancing to all the familiar music, we continued to explore the park.

With Itsy Bitsy Strictly within the Lolli Arena ...

... Sid & Andy's Big Birthday Bash, and Shaun the Sheep's Championsheeps taking place in the LolliPalladium ...

... And wonderful face painting ...

... I'll even go so far to say, there was simply too much to see in one day!!

I even managed to squeeze in a quiet little chat with Hello Kitty!!

All in all, mummy and I had a truly wonderful day ... again! I keep asking mummy how many sleeps it is until the next LolliBop Festival. Eventually, I'll hear those exciting words; "2 more sleeps, Munch"!!

The day was really well organised, and even as we were leaving the venue at the same time as so many other families, everything moved smoothly and we experienced no hold-ups at all!

The journey home from LolliBop is always a sleepy one ...

Not to mention a grubby one!!!

If you've never experienced the delights of LolliBop for yourself, then we would HIGHLY recommend (and urge!) you to keep a close eye on their FACEBOOK PAGE, their TWITTER FEED and their WEBSITE for news, offers and availability for next year's tickets!

We'll be there ... Will you?

LolliBop welcomes The WotWots!! *Giveaway!*

Have you seen the WotWots?

Munchkin has loved the popular Milkshake (Channel 5) show for a long time now. No morning was complete without her daily dose of the WotWots!

Series 1 of The WotWots has been a solid performer for Milkshake! with 2 million viewers tuning in during 2012* throughout their first series. And now, to add to her excitement, she discovers that the wonderful SpottyWot and DottyWot are due to appear at this year's LolliBop Festival, the Big Bash for Little People!

The WotWots will zoom into this year’s Lollibop Festival to meet and greet all their special little fans.

The WotWots have come from outer space in their steam-powered spaceship to explore and marvel at the extraordinary diverse life on Earth. In season one of the television series, SpottyWot and DottyWot arrive in the middle of a zoo and in the second season, they land on a farm and meet strange and friendly farm animals as well as travel to the seashore.

The second series of this fantastic, fun filled kids' show is ready to air on Channel 5's Milkshake, and will hit our TV screens on Monday, 19th August - right after SpottyWot and DottyWot's big appearance at this month's LolliBop Festival. Munchkin is really looking forward to seeing the colourful characters at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park next weekend, even more so now that she and Beastie have been sent their own set of plush characters to celebrate the brand new series!

Naturally, Munchkin immediately claimed DottyWot. Well, she is pink! And besides, she has had her much loved talking SpottyWot sitting at the end of her bed for many, many months now. So SpottyWot has completed her pair nicely! Beastie is very happy to have her own SpottyWot now! They are so soft, and incredibly colourful, and each come in their own brown paper bag, tied up with either a pink or a blue ribbon. Munchkin really was thrilled and couldn't get her bag open quickly enough!!

DottyWot now has a permanent place at the end of Munchkin's bed!

She was very keen to present Beastie Boo with her very own SpottyWot too!

Jessica Symons, Head of Children's at Channel 5 comments:

“I’m delighted to welcome back The WotWots to Channel 5. The series is very popular with the Milkshake! audience and I’m sure they can’t wait to see what adventures are next in store for SpottyWot and DottyWot.”

Andrew Smith, Chief Executive at Pukeko Pictures comments:

“The WotWots has had a strong ratings history on Milkshake! and we look forward to seeing the same performance when Series 2 lands on Channel 5”

The WotWots is an enchanting pre-school series that follows the adventures of two adorable siblings from outer space, SpottyWot and DottyWot. This delightful pair of enquiring minds have come to Earth to explore and to marvel at the extraordinary diversity of life on the blue planet. In Series 2, the alien siblings land on a farm and meet strange and friendly farm animals and also travel to the seashore.
